DUTIES
-Contribute in long-term economic development planning & implementation
-Assist with small business development for MLFN communities & entrepreneurs
-Assist clients in business planning & implementation
-Assist First Nation & individual clients in identifying & accessing funding programs
-Provide advisory services in areas of community & corporate development
-Identify issues & recommendations to Economic Development Commission & MLTC Senior Management
-Develop business plans; identify & build a good rapport & understanding with funding agencies
-Identify & implement training & programs based on labor market needs/trends
-Provide liaison among government programs, prospective employers & clients
-Lead a team of economic development professional staff; develop working rapport with prospective employers in the area, etc
-Develop & administer budgets for economic development programming
-Provide internal training for employees & individual First Nation personnel

Qualifications:
-Degree in commerce, management, administration, &/or public administration.
-Preference given to candidates with relevant post-secondary training, but applicants with a relevant combination of training & experience may also be considered
-Possess a minimum of five (5) years management experience, preferably in a First Nations organization in the management & delivery of programming for First Nations
- Exceptional organizational skills along with strong leadership abilities with supervision experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills & public relations skills with the ability to work with a broad & diverse range of people within the MLFN, Industry, Government, etc
- Excellent oral & written communication skills with demonstrated expertise in using computer-based systems; receiving & sending emails; internet research, etc
- Ability to speak & understand the Cree and/or Dene is a valuable asset
- Knowledge of & sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and cross-cultural issues
