As a Community Investment Manager, you will work collaboratively with other members of the Community Impact team to establish and maintain strong relationships with United Way agencies, volunteers, other funders and partners. The Community Investment Manager will also:

  • Manage a portfolio of investments in community based organizations including various funding requests
  • Provide ongoing support to volunteers in their work, ensuring accountability for United Way’s investments in our community
  • Ensure that all stakeholders have meaningful experiences which promote their ability to become passionate ambassadors for United Way of Winnipeg


You are a high-energy person with substantial community knowledge and expertise, which you have gained through Board experiences and/or leadership roles at non-profit organizations. You take initiative, lead by example, and have a passion for shaping the future of our city. Ideally, your education, experience, and skills include:

  • A relevant post-secondary degree
  • 3 to 5 years related experience working in the not-for-profit sector
  • Established understanding of community development principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program evaluation/outcomes measurement
  • Established understanding of financial empowerment
  • A strong understanding of what constitutes an effective, non-profit organization
  • Experience with volunteer management
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs preferred
  • Strong project planning and management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to problem-solve, learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (staff & volunteer)
  • Ability to work some evenings with volunteer teams
