ABOUT THE POSITION 

The Engagement Coordinator will be joining the Engagement Team, which includes the Director of Engagement, the National Membership and Learning Manager, the National Communications Manager, and the Engagement and Project Manager. The Engagement Coordinator will support activities around membership engagement, learning programs, and the promotion of community economic development (CED) and CCEDNet’s members. The Engagement Coordinator will also provide support around the management of CCEDNet’s business systems and two important capacity-building projects: the Community Leadership Program (a professional development course for CED leaders) and the CreateAction program (a work experience program for youth facing barriers to employment). 

OPPORTUNITY

This is your opportunity to use your community engagement skills in a variety of online contexts to contribute to the success of two capacity building projects and the promotion of CED approaches and strategies to strengthen sustainable, locally-controlled economies for all. 

  • Support the development, design, writing, editing, and publishing of organizational member publications (e.g. social media posts, National Member Communiqué, newsletters, website content, emails, etc.)
  • Support the promotion of CCEDNet’s soon-to-be-launched new website and ongoing developments
  • Support continued improvement and functionality of member programming and services (e.g. member surveys, process development)
  • Support member and contact data management, data assessment and reporting 
  • Assist with CCEDNet’s Community Leadership Program and online member events
  • Support the engagement of CreateAction youth participants, employers, and alumni. 

TEAM & ENVIRONMENT

As part of the Engagement Team at CCEDNet, you will report directly to the Director of Engagement as well as the National Membership and Learning Manager. At CCEDNet, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with staff team members working on national and regional engagement to support their communications needs. You will also have the opportunity to engage with CCEDNet members to learn more about how we can support them and the promotion of their work.

CCEDNet staff team offices are located in Victoriaville (Québec), Winnipeg, Toronto and Ottawa, with staff currently working primarily remotely. We welcome applications from those legally eligible to work in Canada and able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of working across time zones. This role is primarily based during business hours. Domestic travel may also be required. 

ABOUT YOU

As someone who is bilingual in English and French, you love to build thriving relationships, craft thoughtful communications, and engage people across diverse communities and networks. 

Your skills and experience also reveal a deep commitment to social change. You have spent time in communications, content development, and community outreach/engagement, and you are comfortable with programs such as G-Suite (Google Apps), WordPress, MailChimp, and social media platforms.

You have knowledge of, and more importantly, a desire to learn about community economic development, social economy, social innovation, and social finance. You want to work for an organization that aligns with your personal values and commitment to gender equity, poverty reduction, reconciliation, anti-racism / anti-oppression, diversity, and inclusion.  You are aware of your own lived experience of systemic barriers or privilege, and how that shapes your unique contribution to strategic social change.  

You are a connector. The thought of creating a system where everyone involved has the information and relationships they need is motivating, exciting, and exactly how you want to be spending your time. 

PROJECT OVERVIEW

By the end of your first 2 months:

  • You will have familiarized yourself with CCEDNet, our digital presence (including our website, email marketing, and social media accounts), our membership, the Community Leadership Program and CreateAction.
  • You'll have established a strong working relationship with the Engagement Team.

By the end of your first 6 months:

  • You will be supporting our digital communications strategy by sourcing and preparing content for the website, newsletters, and social media feeds
  • You will have supported the successful completion of our fall 2022 cohorts of Community Leadership Program and CreateAction

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a term position until at least July 15, 2023. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours / week) starting as soon as possible. We support our employees by offering salaries that reflect regional variances in cost of living. For this position, the starting salary range is $40,685 - 46,006 if you are located in Victoriaville (where our head office is located) or $47,492 to $53,704 if you are in Toronto, with other regions in between. We are happy to discuss the starting salary range for your region during the interview process
