Endorse Social Solidarity Economy Recommendations to the UN

The United Nations is in the process of formulating a development agenda that will follow up to the Millenium Development Goals, which run until 2015. Recommendations that are submitted will be distributed by the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service to all country delegations at the UN, including Canada. 'At the Centre of Our Moment in History' - Highlights from CommonBound

From June 6-8 a diverse group of energetic thinkers, practitioners, and newcomers convened in Boston for the New Economy Coalition's CommonBound conference. Several CCEDNet members and other Canadians were there, including CCEDNet Executive Director, Michael Toye, who provided his reflections on the event and CCEDNet's contribution to a continental movement for systems change. Manitoba Strengthens CED Financial Tools

The 2014 Manitoba Budget introduced a new Employee Share Purchase Tax Credit and changes to the CED Tax Credit which will help bolster small-business stability and support community economic development in the province. Federal Government Begins Consultation on National Financial Literacy Strategy

Consultations on a proposed strategy to help improve the financial literacy of Canadians have been launched! The first phase will focus on seniors with subsequent phases focusing on low-income Canadians, Aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada, and children, youth and adults. Read more >>

Digital Payment Systems and Currencies and the Social Economy

Melina Young, a practitioner in regional exchange systems and a Senior Researcher with the Social Trade Organization, recently attended the Bitcoin Foundation conference in Amsterdam as a CCEDNet media representative.
