Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month capacity-building gatherings, and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and our communities. The 2023 theme of our collective Black History Month leadership series is: UBUNTU FOREVER – “Ubuntu” is a Bantu term meaning “I am Because We Are” No matter where you live, we invite all Canadians to learn more about Black communities, peoples of African descent and how we continue to advance the development of Canada.
Black people are often given the double burden of experiencing racism and discrimination, and then being expected to fix it. During this Black History Month, Canadians celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities who, throughout history, have done so much to make Canada a culturally diverse and prosperous country. Thought leaders and practitioners across Canada will gather to unpack and build on the intersectionality of our collective work and impact. Through panels, presentations, and capacity building trainings and workshops, we will reimagine the future of an inclusive Canada.
Ticket purchase provides access to all gatherings and capacity building sessions below.
