Aron Skworchinski is a Métis woman from Winnipeg, Manitoba located in Treaty No. 1 Territory and at the Heart of the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. She currently works in the Community Development Division of Community Services at the City of Winnipeg in the role of Special Projects and Initiatives – Poverty Reduction. Her work is focused on the development of the City’s Poverty Reduction Strategy. Rooted in Indigenous ways of being, knowing and doing, Aron is passionate about the well-being and future of the community she lives and works in. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Social Work in 2019 that has provided her with a professional foundation built on promoting social justice and human rights. She currently serves as the Buffalo Circle Coordinator for the Indigenous Helpers Society Inc., a self-sustaining grassroots organization directed to the wellness of Indigenous Peoples.
