Lesley Thompson has served Cornwall & The Counties CFDC since 2014; first as a Director and then in 2015, as the Executive Director. Prior to her involvement with the CCCFDC, Lesley followed her passion for entrepreneurship by running a small business while perusing her degree in International Development, Politics and Economics from the University of Guelph. She then spent 5 years supporting entrepreneurs in Ottawa at the Business Development Bank of Canada as a Senior Commercial Account Manager.

Responsible for leading the CCCFDC, and delivering on the organizations mandate, Lesley pulls from her education in global economics and politics and marries it with her banking and entrepreneurial background to provide intuitive support to small business owners. Extending beyond support for entrepreneurs, Lesley is also deeply passionate about promoting more effective collaboration within and between communities.

In 2016 Lesley and past CFDC Board member Christopher Thompson started the groundwork for what would be the CCCFDC’s largest and most successful collaborative initiative to date, the Cross-Border Partnership Program. The mission of the CBPP is to build stronger relationships between Akwesasne and the municipalities that surround it. Since inception the program has been integral to deepening relationships and many “first” between a First Nation and a municipality, including the first Tri-Chamber MOU between a Canadian, First Nation, and American Chamber of Commerce in Canada. The program has grown and continues to expand to assist other communities in building more productive and trusting relationships with their Indigenous neighbours.
