Azka is a Southwest Asian interdisciplinary artist, community organizer and educator based in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Treaty 1 Territory. Azka’s work explores themes of identity, relationships, wellness and diaspora. Their practice involves cultural activism through art and education by delivering workshops, sharing poetry, and creating evocative lens-based artwork. They are a believer in vulnerability and practicing continuous compassion. Azka hopes their work inspires you to deepen the connection between yourself and those around you.
Azka plays a key role in the Winnipeg and Manitoba chapter of Righting Relations. They have led several Nourishing and Grieving Circles for community, BIPOC Love workshop, have co-developed another RRC toolkit: Building Utopia – A Gender and Sexually Expansive Zine and continue to play a pivotal role in our decolonizing transformative heart-led work as educators and as an organization.
