Judy Williams is a long-time community builder, social worker, and cultural advocate based in Winnipeg. Her career has included work as a human resources practitioner, employment coach, upholsterer, social worker, and policy analyst. Judy currently serves on the board of the St. Norbert Arts Centre (SNAC), where she co-chairs the mentorship program and GerryFest, an annual event honouring the legacy of her late brother, musician and community leader Gerry Atwell.
A dedicated advocate for preserving Black Canadian history, Judy is leading efforts to establish a Black History Museum in Manitoba, working with more than 60 community members and partners such as ACOMI, Black History Manitoba, the Manitoba Museum, the University of Winnipeg Archives Department and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
She also coordinates Fort Garry Young at Heart Fitness, a volunteer-run program offering free community fitness classes, and operates Black Beauty Projects, which combines her passions for sewing, upholstery, jewelry design, catering, and workshops.
