On October 23, join us for the Gathering 2026 – Community Safety and Collective Well-Being: What Makes Us Safe? – a one-of-a-kind annual event for Manitoba community builders.

The learning opportunities of this 24th edition of the Gathering of Community Builders will explore the connection between belonging, economic security, justice, climate, health and collective well-being. Participants will benefit from peer learning and networking, and be challenged by speakers to shape our future as community builders

What does it really take to build safe, healthy and resilient communities?

At The Gathering 2026, we’ll look beyond traditional ideas of safety to explore the relationships, resources, opportunities, systems and collective action that help people and communities thrive.

Expect thought-provoking conversations, storytelling, practical workshops and opportunities to learn across sectors. Explore how community-centred investment, meaningful employment, housing stability, social enterprise and collective care can strengthen well-being, economic security and resilience.

We will begin in a good way, with Elder Mae Louise Campbell, grounding us in Indigenous wisdom, teachings, and ceremony as we come together to explore the theme for this year. We will then hear from Levi A. Foy (Manidoogwiiwezens), whose work in harm reduction, homelessness, and community-led programming brings vital perspectives on dignity, belonging, and the conditions that enable people and communities to thrive.

NEW THIS YEAR: Introduction to Breathwork-offering practical, immediately usable tools for self-awareness, relaxation and maintaining focus under pressure. This is a unique session that CCEDNet is offering during lunch time. If you want to take part, be sure to grab your lunch quickly! Participation is limited, and spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Whether you work in community, government, non-profit, academia or business, The Gathering offers space to challenge assumptions, build relationships and discover practical approaches for collective action.

Come ready to listen, question, connect—and leave with ideas you can put into action.
