Social Enterprise Toronto (SET) is a member-led network of social enterprises that create employment or training opportunities for low income or marginalized individuals in the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area (GTHA). Founded in 2006 as Social Purpose Enterprise Network of Toronto, SET is a self-managed network funded through a combination of annual dues and grant funding, notably from Toronto Enterprise Fund/United Way Toronto. It is trusteed by the Canadian CED Network.
SET members enjoy a range of benefits, including marketing support, professional development and peer learning opportunities, information about the social enterprise marketplace, and presence at various policy tables.
Social enterprise has deep roots in Community Economic Development initiatives, and traditionally focuses on creating jobs or training opportunities for low-income or marginalized individuals.
