This document arose out of a desire on the part of practitioners of community economic development in Toronto to explain what CED is and to identify what is needed to promote CED more widely. It is not a “how to” document, but rather a document explaining “what,” “why” and “what next.” It is intended for a range of audiences: governments, philanthropic foundations, private businesses and the community sector, to help illustrate how CED can contribute to employment development and the enhancement of the quality of life of our neighbourhoods.
