Master's student in Natural Resources Management

Alejandra is an international student from Mexico pursuing a master’s degree in Natural Resources Management at the University of Manitoba. Alejandra’s research interests are centered on urban agroecology, a field that explores the interplay between agriculture, ecology, and urban environments. Her work aims to unravel the potential of urban agroecology in building resilient and regenerative urban communities, with a focus on sustainable food systems and community empowerment.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Alejandra is deeply committed to community engagement and sustainability initiatives. She served as a volunteer at Fireweed’s Veggie Van over the summer, where she worked to promote access to fresh and healthy food within urban areas, she also participates at Lord Roberts Garden, where she contributes to the cultivation of food for local residents to enjoy.
