Chantel Henderson is a proud Ojibway woman from Pinaymootang First Nation and Sagkeeng First Nation. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Urban & Inner-City Studies from the University of Winnipeg and a Master’s Diploma in Community Economic Development from Concordia University. Chantel works at the Green Action Centre in the First Nations Waste Minimization Program. Her passion for protecting the environment began as a child during a 3Rs presentation at school. Her work as an environmental educator through the Green Action Centre has allowed her to come full circle by passing on this knowledge to a new generation of students in First Nation communities through classroom presentations, activity books, and environmental resources. Chantel enjoys learning about new projects, activities, and initiatives that are happening in First Nation schools around Manitoba and she loves to promote awareness for these First Nations-led initiatives to a larger audience through online webinars, conferences, and community events. If you know of any similar projects happening in a First Nations community, she’d love to hear from you!
