Jenelle Smith

Manitou House (Native Clan Organization)

Jenelle Smith has spent the past 11 years with Manitou House, playing an integral role in its growth and evolution as an Indigenous, community-based residential program supporting individuals transitioning from the federal correctional system.

With a background in forensic mental health, justice, and community-based healing, Jenelle brings extensive experience working alongside individuals with complex needs and navigating the intersection of corrections, mental health, culture, and community. As a strong community advocate, her work is grounded in relationship-building, accountability, compassion, and the belief that meaningful healing and successful reintegration happen when people feel valued, heard, and connected.

Throughout her career, Jenelle has helped strengthen partnerships between community organizations, Indigenous supports, Correctional Service Canada, Parole, and other community stakeholders while advocating for approaches that balance public safety with dignity, healing, and opportunity.
