Sawmill Community Land Trust is a nonprofit membership organization that owns and holds land “in trust” for the benefit of the community while preserving the affordability of the housing on the land permanently. All the while, homeowners on the land trust enjoy essential benefits of ownership: lifetime security, a reasonable rate of return on their investment and a legacy for their descendants.
Sawmill Community Land Trust is about the business of creating brighter futures by providing opportunities for low- to moderate-income families to build stability and assets through affordable housing. SCLT is one of the largest continuous community land trusts in the United States; having reclaimed 34 acres of abandoned industrial sites for community-driven affordable housing and economic development activities.
