Join CDP for an engaging webinar with the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study (ONS). ONS is an interdisciplinary research group housed at the University of Ottawa that aims to provide relevant, timely information on the social determinants of health in Ottawa and its neighbourhoods to support evidence-based decision-making for a healthier city. We will introduce the audience to ONS and its innovative natural neighbourhood model of data analysis to support knowledge translation and transfer, highlighting how ONS has been utilized in the community to shape data-driven decisions in Ottawa.
We will focus on a recently completed project to develop a housing profile of Ottawa by drawing on data from a wide variety of sources, including some via the CDP. As part of the housing profile, we will delve into our use of ArcGIS Story Maps as a tool to create an interactive data story. By demonstrating its use in our project, we will discuss its benefits and drawbacks as a dissemination tool, as well as the logistics of carrying out a project requiring collaboration and data acquisition across sectors.
This seminar is aimed for anyone who is interested in the use of ArcGIS Story Maps as a tool for knowledge translation and transfer, as well as those who have an interest in the integration of siloed datasets into a cohesive data storytelling narrative, using the issue of housing as a case example.
