ABOUT THE POSITION

The Events and Engagement Coordinator contribute directly to CCEDNet-Manitoba’s sector strengthening activities and is an enthusiastic community developer. You are the key staff person who ensures we are engaging with members and making connections to the broader sector. Responsible for identifying skill and knowledge needs through member engagement, you use solid event planning and communication skills to create learning and networking events that meet those needs. As the ideal candidate, you are organized, energetic, and committed to collaborative planning and community engagement. You are a strong communicator that can contribute to good relationships and the provision of clear and accessible information about network activities. You will enjoy working in a close team environment, in an open office that is part of the busy and collaboratively organized Social Enterprise Centre.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Plan, market, execute, evaluate, and report on CCEDNet – Manitoba’s learning events including:
    • The Gathering: Manitoba’s CD/CED Gathering,
    • Strengthening Non-Profits Workshops,
    • The Financial Sustainability Series,
    • Other occasional events
  • Ensure CCEDNet – Manitoba is engaging with its membership and the broader sector through:
    • Managing the Manitoba membership list and ensuring members are receiving benefits.
    • Recruiting new members and regularly engaging with existing members.
    • Coordinating the logics for the annual Member Vision Meeting & the annual Fall Policy Summit.
    • Responding to information requests from members and the broader sector.
    • Maintaining an open, welcoming space in the CCEDNet – Manitoba office with appropriate meeting and information or marketing resources that align with our online presence.
  • In collaboration with the Manitoba Network Manager and other staff
    • Support the strategic development of CCEDNet – Manitoba programming using a member-engagement and sector-strengthening lens.
    • Provide logistics support to CCEDNet Manitoba policy work- organizing meetings and documenting discussions that happened
    • Provide support to Network Weaving program area- logistics support in organizing coalition meetings (where possible), taking notes and documenting
    • Track program deliverables and outputs to support donor reports.
  • Other duties as may be permitted by time to support the Manitoba program.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Previous experience with program coordination, event planning, and community engagement
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (oral and written, for a variety of mediums and audiences)
  • Knowledge of community economic development and social justice movements
  • Post-secondary education or a combination of relevant experience in a related field such as CED, non-profit administration, education, event planning, or communications
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Experience managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Marketing background and skills assets
  • Experience with planning and organizing meetings, events and community activities

Compensation:  $24.12 to $26.22 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, plus extended health and dental benefits, advantageous leave entitlements and professional development opportunities.

This is a one-year contract with possibility of extension subject to funding. The work schedule is regularly 25 hours/week but may vary and involve overtime work at peak periods which is reconciled through compensatory time off when operationally feasible.
