The Show Must Go On: Theatres, Arts Venues and Civic Buildings in Community Ownership

ORGANIZATION:
Locality

Year: 2011

The Show Must Go On is an overview of how civic buildings can be successfully owned and run by community organisations.

Theatres, performance, event and exhibition venues and town halls are a highly valued part of the community. However it can be hard to ensure these buildings have the right mix of uses to keep them viable in the long-term. Local councils are increasingly working with community partners to secure the future of these buildings.

It contains practical advice from Locality (UK) members who run civic buildings, tips from Locality staff and advice on funding and support.

Short and easy to read, this is a great introduction to the practicalities of community-owned civic spaces.
