April 18, 2024 9:30 – 11:30 am

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre | 445 King Street, Winnipeg

How do we work together to advocate for the province and communities we want? There are many pathways to make change toward our economic, social, and environmental vision for Manitoba.

You are invited to join in a morning of advocacy learning in small bites!

Learn from other practitioners, gain a better understanding of how others approach advocacy, and take action together.

All are invited – whether you’ve been involved in coalitions, advocacy, or community organizing for a long time or are just starting your journey.

The morning includes three ‘tiny talk’ mini-presentations and a group action activity.

Tiny Talk 1 with Kirsten Bernas: Advocacy: Is It Worth It?

Why should community organizations participate in public policy advocacy work anyway? Learn about examples of impactful advocacy work and what participation can look like for your organization.

Tiny Talk 2 with Abdi Ahmed: Getting the Attention of Governments

Learn stories about getting the attention of government. Abdi Ahmed will share his experiences from both ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ government.

Tiny Talk 3 with Michael Barkman: How to Advocate and Organize

How best do we work together to advocate for the province and communities we want? Learn more about finding a common agenda and coalition building: essential parts of our efforts to achieve our vision for change.
